Conservation Week is a week of activities and action for the environment co-ordinated by the Department of Conservation in the first week of August each year.
Loss of biodiversity has been identified as New Zealand’s most pervasive environmental problem.
Conservation Week is an opportunity to highlight the issues, generate awareness and action, and share the experiences, successes and challenges of those involved in working to restore the balance.
Conservation Week has been celebrated since 1969, covering a wide range of themes and topics, from insects to Antarctica.
Conservation Week activities are co-ordinated by local Department offices in association with a wide range of agencies and groups including regional and city councils, schools, conservation organisations, churches, and corporate sponsors.
Visit www.doc.govt.nz and find out the Conservation theme for this year…
“Conservation Week is a reminder to all New Zealanders that we can all play a part daily in preserving our natural resources and wildlife which are left, so our children and grandchildren will be able to experience a remnant of this country as it once was”
This resource is available as a printed Pack or on CD-ROM. The cost is $35 (Incl P&P) per Pack or CD, or $55 for Pack and CD-ROM.
