The New Zealand Seashore is many thousands of kilometres in length, and in depth varies from several kilometres down to less than a metre.
The nature of the seashore can change dramatically as it switches between the basic division of hard and soft shores.
Solid, unbroken slabs of rock give way to large boulders and rock pools, which give way in their turn to gently-sloping sandy beaches.
Further on, the sand recedes to mangrove-filled mudflats behind which lie freshwater swamps, leading up into native bush.
Sea Week 2009 - More Than Meets The Eye
This year Sea Week will be during the week of 1st–8th March 2009.
Sea Week provides a great opportunity to learn more about New Zealand’s unique coastal and marine environment.
The theme for Sea Week 2009 is:
“One Ocean- It Starts With Me”
Sea Week is organised by the New Zealand Association for Environmental Education (NZAEE).
NZAEE’s primary objective is to foster the development of environmental education in New Zealand.
Sea Week Objectives:
*Celebrate the sea; its beauty, diversity and cultural significance for New Zealanders.
* Promote understanding and awareness of the significance of marine and coastal biodiversity and sustainable practices both at sea and on land.
* Organise activities to raise awareness of the need for marine and coastal conservation.

This resource is available as a printed Pack or on CD-ROM. The cost is $35 (Incl P&P) per Pack or CD, or $55 for Pack and CD-ROM.
